Hi everycat!
My good friend Phoebe (co-chairfeline of the Pablo Fan Club) has tagged me for a meme. So here it is: seven things about me.
1. Ok. Let's get a few awkward ones out of the way first. Fact Number One: I have two litter trays. See?
(Don't worry- they're clean!) There's an explanation here. Whe Kate first got me, I wasn't totally down with the whole toilet training thing, even though I was two years old. Kate noticed that I didn't like to use the tray when I'd already... um... been in it. So she gave me two, so I'd always have a clean one! I don't mind so much these days; in fact, I mostly go outside these days. The trays are just for nighttime and rainy days. P.S. Kate's thinking of trying me on the crystal stuff... do any of you use it? What's it like?
2. We all like to rub our scent on things, right? I know I do:
Well... I'm pretty greasy. Nick and Kate regularly have to clean the grease from my favourite rubbing spots in the kitchen (and on the legs of the ironing board).
See the greasy black mark? Even I admit that it's gross. But a mancat needs to mark his territory!
3. I don't do laps (sitting, sleeping in people's laps). Ever. Fact Number Four kind of explains why.
4. By my rough calculations, I've lived with 15 people over my seven years in the world. (For the first 2 years of my life, I was a sharehouse cat. Since then, I've lived exclusively with Nick and Kate.) I had to deal with too too many people when I was a youngcat... I think this is why I don't like people so much. Even now.
5. But recently, I've decided to let Uncle Simon pick me up without going nuts at him! Here's Uncle Simon. He's Nick's big brother:
Letting Uncle Simon pick me up is a Big Deal. It's his reward for feeding me when Nick and Kate go away. He understands my needs.
6. I have a post-food 'soul cry'. After I've eaten, I do a couple of really long, deep, mournful meows. There's two main reasons for this: 1- it's an existential cry. Kind of like, 'I eat, therefore I am a cat'. 2- I'm mourning the fact that I've just eaten, and the point just after eating marks the longest point before I eat again.
7. This is a big confession... I have a 'brother'. His name is Ben. That's not the confession part. This is the confession part:
Yep, he's a dog. He's Kate's dog. He lives with her parents, 300kms from here. Frankly, that's not far away enough. I've never met him; I've only smelt him on Kate's stuff after she's been to visit him. Let's hope it stays that way!
So there you go. Seven very candid facts about me. Now I have to tag other cats to do the meme. I tag Beto, Axel, Jack and Persephone and... any othercat who hasn't been tagged!
Cheers,
--Pabs

Dude, crystals are the only way to go. I have writtn about them on my blog. They rock! No smell and they last a lot longer than any other type of litter. You'll love them!
Pablo, what an excellent, fascinating 7 facts! You are such a multifaceted cat - and your honesty is truly refreshing. Thank you for telling us your adoring fans more about your daily life.
I can see why you have made an exception to the no holding rule for Uncle Simon. He looks like a soul mate, for sure. Do you purr when he picks you up? Or is that pushing it too far?
Hey Pablo! We use the crystal litter. And we like it a lot. It just takes a little while to get used to it. But it is very clean and dust-free.
Pablo, you asked about the crystal litter. I tried that stuff with the cat that came before P & M and it was kind of gross. It started out clear, gradually turned yellow and eventually a bit soupy towards the end of the time given on the package instructions. I didn't get it again.
challenge excepted!!
brrr...
Pablo,
I can see why you have a fan club! I think I have to join!
About the crystals ... We use "Scoop Away plus crystals" and we like it.
Two boxes? I use the great outdoors, if you know what I mean.

Wow, this is very detailed information. I have to say that you're still my best mate despite the litter tray issue, the grease marks, the lap phobia and the brother who's a dog. None of us is perfect. FAZ
Don't worry about Ben, Pablo. Max and Coco are nice to me and really cool, I bet Ben is too!
Also? I have THREE litter boxes. Of course, I share them with Dobby, which... Whatever.
and you know what else? I don't do naps either.
Oh Pabs, I didn't realise how psychological the dirty litter tray was for you!!
I was one of those people who hung around at that share house and we were always perplexed that you preferred to "ahem" use the floor when what we thought was a relatively clean litter tray was available.
It's great that Kate cares about you so much :)
Hey Pabs!! Daddy remembers that house too, and the special corner in the lounge that you repeatedly allocated for yourself.
wow, great list. i cry a mournful cry when it is time to eat, but I totally get where you're coming from to cry after you eat...wow.
I don't use crystals, i use "Feline Pine" and it is fantastic. I've never, not once pottied outside my box, and it smells good. I do "order" my beans to clean it (check out my MeMe on Monday)
I can totally see why you have such a devoted fan club.
Hi Pablo, and Pablo's humans,
I'm not sure if you read XKCD, but this one made me think of you...

take care, :)

Wow, Pablo, Uncle Simon's kinda dishy! I can understand why you let him pick you up...
You're not on the lookout for an Aussie husband too, Laura? Well, Uncle Simon is quite the catch, and single to boot! But I don't know how he'd feel about me acting as his online marriage broker, so I'll leave it there.
Pabs - I can't believe you've been fighting? Are you okay? Did you get bitten? Fighting is very, very scary and if you get bitten you have to have an antibiotic injection to make sure you don't get an infection. Please take care. FAZ
Pablo, I trust your feline wisdom completely. But I love my dear hometown far too much to abandon it, even for the most cat-picking-up, single, Australian catch ever.
On the other hand, I think it's only fair that Australia be forced to give up one of their own since we've had to sacrifice Christine for the good of the cause.
I probably shouldn't tell you this Laura, but Kate (my houseperson) tried to move away from Tasmania once, when she was 18... she lasted about 2 days! So she understands your reluctance to relocate to Australia, even for Uncle Simon. Me? ICats were never meant to fly, and freak out when I move suburbs... Needless to say, I won't be attending the Wedding of the Year in Germany, but will be waiting with purrs and leg rubs when the happy couple return to Hobart. Come visit!
"Cats were never meant to fly, and freak out when I move suburbs... "
Id like to 2nd that motion! Wise words Pablo, wise words.
Hey Pablo. as your housemates know, i get to have crystals. hmmmmm. as long as Paulo cleans it properly and replaces it on time it's fine, otherwise it gets wet. mel is diligent in that respect but for some reason she has made paulo the primary carer of my kitty litter, and he sux. but crystals are good. the rent payers opinion is that it smells less than the clumping version and when i kick it out all over the bathroom floor it's easier to clear whereas the clumping variety grudes itself on the bathroom floor. which aparently sux for them.
