Too many sad things

There are just too many sad things going on at the moment.

I think most people in the world would know that there have been some terrible, terrible bushfires in Australia over the past weekend. They've mostly affected the state of Victoria, which is where my friends Huffle Mawson and Gypsy and Tasha live (but they're in the city, so they're ok). So far, these fires have claimed at least 173 human lives, and no doubt the lives of countless pets, feral animals and native animals. At least 750 homes have been destroyed, and thousands of people (and probably lots of animals too) are homeless.

At the same time, there have been big floods up in northeast Australia, where the Forever Foster cats live (but they're ok too). Many beans and animals have been affected.

Australia can be a very extreme place to live sometimes.

Meanwhile, My friend Momo's SS lost her dear aunt yesterday afternoon. And last week, the blogosphere lost some dear friends, including Jake, Huffle's brother Salvador, and Bear. It's all too sad.

So today, I'm sending purrs to people and creatures everywhere who are injured, hurting, or missing someone they love. Please join me.

*** If your beans are able to help those who have suffered in the Victorian bushfires, they can make donations to the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal or to the RSPCA in Victoria (I'm not sure if these online donation facilities will work overseas. It's worth a shot!)***

Cheers,
--Pabs

We're very sad to read about what has been happening with the fires in Australia, and the floods too. We're glad that so far our friends in Melbourne and elsewhere are OK.

We are purring. When it rains it pours, they say, and sometimes it seems to be true. We are still in Limburg with Ruis whose sister Taylor had a stroke....
Let's hope for the best for everybody!

Pabs, Nick and Kate, we too are shocked at the fires and the devastation and loss that has occured.

We have made a donation, through the New Zealand Red cross, by giving up our grocery money (mum bought a loaf of bread, and she will have toast this week instead).

We know that our Aussie mates would help us out if anything so sad happened in NZ.

Hugs

It is a terrible tragedy. Mum has been watching the news, and every time she sees it, the death toll has gone up. We are relieved that all our friends are safe, but so very sad for all the people and animals who perished, and all those who have lost everything. We are praying for all of them.

We're purring our best, Pabs. It's all just too horrible to properly comprehend. Mum registered tonight to donate blood. The website said that lots of others have had the same idea, so that is good.

(((hugs)))

Pabs thanks so much for the updates on everyone. We have been worried about all of you 'down under'. It is sad, especially if they think some of the fires were sent on purpose. Very sad.

Yes, there's so much sadness and trouble. Sometimes life gives the humans almost too much to deal with. We're glad to hear our Australian friends are OK.

The human's family have had floods up North but they are secretly glad because they were so desperate for water. We are so sorry for all the people in the bushfires though and all the other critters who have had sad times.

Thank you for entering our Name the Wabbit competition. We made £29 for the Hillside Animal Sanctuary the the winning name was Hopkins entered by Sunny's Mommy.
